The best time to visit Changchun is in winter, particularly in January and February, the coldest months of the season. Snow covers the expanse, and trees stand like bleached pyramids. Changchun is located in the central part of Songliao Plain in Northeast China, covering a total area of 20,571 square kilometres. As the capital of Jilin Province, it is the second largest city in Northeast China and the political, economic and cultural centre of the province.
