The 2015 BAKE (Blogger Association of Kenya) Awards, sponsored by Airtel, took place at the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi on Saturday, 2 May 2015. Now in its 4th year, the awards are a showcase of the very best Kenyan blogs in 18 categories including travel, technology, fashion, food, creative writing and photography.

Oluwakemi Ojo, Content Manager for Travelstart Kenya, said of the award, "Creating content that enhances our audience's experience, as well as getting in touch with what makes Kenyans tick in terms of travel and leisure, has been an amazing journey. Our BAKE Award will inspire us to continue distributing relevant, valuable and consistent material on the cutting edge of travel."

More than 2000 votes were cast by readers of the Travelstart Kenya Blog between the period of March 2, 2015 and April 30, 2015. Unique visitors to Travelstart Kenya's travel blog have grown more than 90% since 2014 and Ojo believes this is because of their audience-centric approach, "Our focus has been to provide Kenyans with information that is relevant and accurate. In addition, maintaining a high level of quality and being consistent has gained us many new and loyal readers in the last year."

Other winners this year include Techmoran.com (Best Technology Blog) for the second year in a row, and Bikozulu.co.ke (Best Creative Writing Blog) for the third year running.

The BAKE Awards highlights and rewards the country's exceptional bloggers based on several standards including the quality of content, consistency, language use and content marketing. Blogging in Kenya has grown tremendously in the past few years and BAKE is empowering and improving the standard of content creation on the local web.

According to BAKE, “Blogging in Kenya has been growing in leaps and bounds over the years and this is evident from among other things, the number of blogs that have been submitted in this year’s Kenyan Blog Awards. During the inaugural blog awards in 2012, there were only 300 submissions and a total of 10,000 people voting. Last year there were 800 submissions and a total of 50,000 votes. This year, we had 1,800 blogs submitted into the competition and as per the trends, it is clear that readers will vote in even larger numbers. This is a clear indication of growth in terms of numbers. We can authoritatively say that quality of content is also getting better and better with time.”

Many Kenyan travellers visit the Travelstart website to research destinations and get useful information to assist their travel inspiration and planning. The Travelstart Kenya blog assists customers' journey by sharing travel experiences and inspiring customers explore different destinations. This has contributed to the success of the blog.

The Travelstart Kenya team thanks their loyal readers and everyone who voted and supported them in the 2015 BAKE Awards. They also congratulated all the nominees and bloggers recognised by the BAKE Awards this year.
